Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in January of 1933. Four months later, the Nazi’s launched the Star of David campaign. This campaign was essentially a boycott of Jewish businesses in Germany and revealed the intent of the Nazis to undermine the viability of Jews (and Christians) in Germany. It was a state-managed campaign of harassment, arrests, systematic pillaging, forced transfer of ownership to Nazi Party activists, and ultimately the murder of millions of Jews and Christians.
ISIS has launched a similar campaign throughout the middle east, by marking the houses and properties of Christians with the Arabic letter “N,” a symbol for “Nazarenes” (Christians), which they intended as a slur. “Nun,” or ن , is the first letter of the Arabic word for Christian, “Nasrani.”
It is being reported that Christians in Iraq are using this powerful symbol to protest ISIS and proclaim their solidarity to Christ. I heard about these stories and decided to preach about this powerful stand that middle east Christians are taking. I have challenged teens throughout the nation this summer to also proclaim their allegiance to Christ to the world. Teens at all of our summer ministry events have rallied around this idea, and I believe will be a voice for Christ on campuses everywhere this fall!
Our ministry also launched a new shirt, cinch bag and sticker line we are calling the “Nazareth” so that teens can proclaim proudly: “I am a follower of Jesus of Nazareth!”
These new Nazareth products can be found on our website: jefffeydean.com/estore.
